Edward F. Liston, Jr., has been practicing law in Toms River, New Jersey, for more than 30 years. His areas of practice include municipal land use law, real estate law, wills, trusts and probate law, estate planning and settlement, civil litigation and criminal defense law.

He also represents citizen action groups and individual objectors in land use and zoning matters, as well as homeowner and condominium associations.

Mr. Liston is a Court Certified Mediator pursuant to Rule 1:40 and serves as a Court Arbitrator in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Ocean County.

A native of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, he holds a BA with Distinction in English from Rutgers University and a Juris Doctor Degree from Rutgers Law School. While at Rutgers Law School, he chaired the Moot Court Board and served as a legislative aide to then-Assemblymen Robert N. Wilentz, later the Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Mr. Liston plays an active role in the New Jersey shore community. He is the founder and President Emeritus of The 200 Club of Ocean County, a charitable organization that supports the families of police officers, firefighters and other first-responders killed or injured in the line of duty, and honors acts of valor by these dedicated, unsung heroes of our community. He has also served on the Board of Trustees of the American Red Cross, Jersey Coast Chapter.

He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. 

Mr. Liston is a member of the Ocean County, New Jersey State and American Bar Associations, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New Jersey Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, New Jersey Planning Officials and former member of the New Jersey Institute of Municipal Attorneys.

Prior to forming Edward F. Liston, Jr., LLC, Mr. Liston was a partner in the firm of Novins, Farley, Grossman, Liston and York and a partner in the firm of Carluccio and Liston. Earlier in his career, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Samuel V. Convery, Judge, Superior Court of New Jersey, and to the Honorable DuBois S. Thompson, Judge of the Middlesex County Court; as a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice; as the Dover Township Public Defender; and as the prosecutor in Pemberton and Little Egg Harbor Townships.

Mr. Liston has served as attorney to the Manchester Township Planning Board, Berkeley Township Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Berkeley Township Planning Board., the Stafford Township Planning Board and the Barnegat Township Zoning Board of Adjustment.
